I work for a charity and we would do fundraising events, the one's that raised the most money for us are when you have music and raffles.  See if a bar would give you a room for free or discount price and phone local hotels and resturants etc and ask them for donations for the raffle - any we have contacted have been helpful and give out free meals or percentage off.  Then charge in at the door.  It's lots of work but usually raises a good bit of money.

Wishing you all the best in your fund raising.

Do a fun day at your local pub see if the manager would help out by let you have a free room and maybe hire a bouncy castle, do raffles, shave your head ? wax your hubby's legs that sort of thing? also ring around local firls to see if they could donate prizes and also ring your press office to get the fun day out so you will have more people turn up on the day
