I just wanted to say hello really and after reading the posts on this new 'twin' thread i thought i would share my story of my twins for those i havent met yet :-) Its hard to believe that there are so many of us who have lost such precious little ones....

My twins were born at 27 weeks - i didnt realise i was in labour until an hour before they were born.  Courtney was born first at 9.13am, and Harvey was born shortly after at 9.17am - they were born born in their sacs and both had to be resussatated a few times -although Harvey cried as he was born! They were rushed to SCBU and i barely has time to get used to the idea of being a mummy when after 18 hours my little prince went to sleep fighting bless him - his lungs collapsed and he began bleeding heavily so we agreed for the doctors to stop.  It was a further 17 days until we lost our princess Courtney - she tried her best, and even managed to get through a transfer to another hospital for a heart operation, and returned to us in time to open her eyes....it was all goin so well until.  Courtney suffered a brain hemmorage which was a grade 3 bleed or somthing like that - we were advised of the risks associated if we continued to prolong her life, and even then could see a difference in her character - she was so dosed up on morphine it wasnt her laying there, she wasnt responsive and looked in such pain we told the doctors to let God make the decision and to stop her pain.  To this day i know we made the right decision but we miss them terribly and wish so much things could have been different!

I like to think they are playing with all the other angels babies in the clouds
Sorry for the long essay - but once u start it kinda just follows! :-)

lots of love

Charlotte,

Just wanted to say how sorry I am to hear your story. Every multiples mum who has suffered a loss knows how horrific it is coming to terms with losing one baby and fearing for the other(s), but to then have to go through the agony of watching your other precious child fight for their lives.. Cruel does not begin to describe the awfulness of the situation, and I can only hope and pray you have had all the support you need since your terrible tragedy.

I know what you mean about looking at your baby dosed on morphine and feeling you have to let go. The post mortem on our son proved we made the right decision, surgery would not have saved him, still it hurts so much to remember it. It's always crystal clear, and I doubt that will ever change.

Take care.
