Jake, Always Loved and Missed until we meet again

WWW
« on: September 29, 2008, 05:43:25 PM »

This will be our fourth christmas without Jake. Each year I have bought him a special decoration for the tree (pic included 2005 pic on left 2006 middle and 2007 on the right)

However, Im beginning to wonder If I should carry this on. Firstly I cant find nice decorations that feel right anymore

And I dont want people to think my christmas tree is some sort of 'shrine' to jake

If I find something perfect I know I will buy it but if I dont find anything should I feel guilty?

Mel if your tree is plenty big enough keep going if it's what makes your feel good hun ,  I sure jake loves them and if you maybe involve the other little ones in choosing Jakes tree gift , it will make it something from them too . My kids love to choose things for ethan and it helps me that he is still a special part of their lives , they don't need to think of him every day but when they do it's because they want too , If you decide to stop that is fine too but don't feel guilty Jake will alwys be the star or angel at the top of your beautiful tree anyway

Mel if thats what you want for your tree then go for it hunny. I am having my tree as a shrine to Brett as it is a special time of the year that my Angel didn't get to spend with me. we have also decided that we will get a babuble or dec for the tree every year and when the boys eventually move out they can take a few with them as then they will have taken a small part of their brother with them  kis

I hope you carry on - it should give you some pleasure to find the right bauble each year to add.

Unless your tree is very small - jakes baubles will only make up a few of the many decorations needed, so it wouldnt look instantly like a shrine.  if it makes you feel less guilty, why not do what I did last year and add some decorations with other family member names on?

Mel

Alex got a decoration of each of us on his 1st christmas then last yr the boys got one each with their names on and the kids picked out a Me To You teddy decoration for each of them. I bought something too its 2 Me To You bears dressed in santa hats sitting on a sleigh and it sits on the hearth.

Its nice to carry on buying something but it doesnt need to be a tre decoration

This is the 3rd Christmas without our darling Alex and yes I have bought plenty of Christmas decorations for him each year.

This year Ian and I bought this huge Snowman which sings

I don't see anything wrong it and to be honest who cares if anyone does think your Christmas tree is a shrine... I know mine is and I am so proud to do it each year for my angel
