Hi girls James my eldest whos 7 has never been dry at night and seems to have got worse since losing Enzo i have tried everything he was on tablets = Desmopressin when he was 5 and they did nothing now at 7 its getting to the frustrating time i wake up every morning to a soaking wet bed and sometimes i think he doesnt even know he has done it as altho he wears dry nights nappies he takes it off and is soaked thru to his pj's and hje comes downstairs ad just sits there in his wet smelly pjamas

Im not sure if its phsycological through Enzo or a family thing as his dad wet the bed till he was 12 as he had a small bladder for his age and also my dad did it till he was 12 too think that was idle ness mixed with deep sleep though

i dont really want to pump him full of drugs so was wondering if any of you with l/c know of any herbal/natural ways to prevent or ease it a little i know Emma (Bretts mum) would be grateful for any advice too

sorry for the rant im just so frustrated at the mo prob mainly hormones

claire i seen a thing on irish tv about bed wetting there is an alarm they have seemingly you put two pairs of underwear on them and this goes onto the in between both and whe they wet an alarm goes off and it supposed to stop them eventually but be warned if it goes off the rest of the house will wake up

have you tried stopping drinks after a certain hour and making sure he goes to loo before sleep

Pauline I have heard about the alarm but this sounds during them having an accident so essentially the deed has been done already :o(
I have also restricted drinks at night but have also read that this doesn't make a diff cos he has the same amount to drink during the day and doesn''t have daytime accidents.
The going to the loo before he sleeps isn't making any diff in my house either as he still has accidents :o(

Please if anyone can help I would (and Claire) would apreciate it

I also soent 2 and half hours researching it last night and got nowhere :o(

my son wet the bed till he was 7 also and it was getting worse untill i bought him to a clinic that dealt in bed wetting and they gave me a little alarm wich i found ok but after a while of using it i found out he was being bullied and once i got that problem sorted it seemed to just stop . maybe ur son has alot going on in his head that you dont know about have you tried to talk to him about his feelings its very hard to get into a childs head and see what they are feeling well thats what i found personally myself.

Jessica

Started wetting the bed when she was about 3 she had been brilliant up until this point if I remember right. I remember checking out websites doctors etc but they wouldn???t do anything until she turned 7. Because Jessica would go for a few weeks without wetting the bed and then revert back to bed wetting every night for a week or more they just asked me to check patterns. But nothing had changed. We even thought it was when Jamie was born but there was just no pattern but she was getting a few longer periods in between the bedwetting. I think she has wet the bed 1 or twice since Jamie has died. I never did anything different so I???m sorry I cant really offer any advice other than what has already been said.

Hope you get it sorted I know how frustrating and tiring it is xx

this seems to be a bigger problem for boys than girls. my brothers used to wet the bed. one of them had that alarm thingy and it would waken my dad but never woke my brother  . i now have 2 nephews who are coming 5 and they both still wear pull ups to bed so maybe it is a hereditary thing in your family also. poor wee man at the age were he will be embarrassed by it. only hope you get sorted soon.  kis

Claire,

I was going to say about the alarm that Pauline mentioned I have heard that it works fairly quickly - and also no use of medication .....
