Sound asleep in lullabies dreams

I have arranged for the boys to be out of school for the day Friday on Brett's angel day but the school weren't happy about it. I argued with the head teacher saying that this day was really important to us as a family, but she obv didn't understand  she did eventually agree for them to have the day off but made it really difficult for me. It has been bugging me all weekend, who's right? Her cos their education is really important or me cos it's Brett's day?

An angel walks beside me on floating air
He skips along without a care
He kisses my face when he sees me cry
He's the brightest star in the dark night sky
He's the whistle in the breeze on a windy day
He's up in Heaven in eternal play

Emma this is a very special day to yourself and the boys and after seeing them with Bretts keepsake boxes its evident that they love and miss their baby brother too.
it is so hard for someone who has never lost a child to understand what we are going through.

Thank you Claire and Donna kis

Pauline last year the old head teacher was lovely he agreed wstraight away and was really sympathetic but this new head teacher is a tyrannical ice queen!!!! She sees the school as her little kingdom and she rules it with an iron fist so she hates it when someone goes against her. I would have just kept them off anyway whether she agreed to it or not I was just trying to be a good parent by notifying the school first, but I won't make that mistake again!!!

Emma i'm fortunate that Ben's special day falls in the school holidays and for his birthday i kinda think well, they wouldn't have it off were he here etc.

Emma sometimes you can be too honest with my experiance of attendance-i asked permission to to pick Ash up 2hrs early one Friday so she could go to the coast for the weekend with her grandparents. The teacher agreed-said she'd get more out of the holiday than the friday afternoon at school lol but headteacher disagreed so i had to lie and say it was medical!!!

I think they definatly should spend Brett's special day away from school x

Brett's dates are opposite to Ben's Kim, his birthday is the beginning of the summer holidays and his angel day is when they go back to school. Next year I will just say that they have a dentist appt lol

who does she think she is?  she's made me angry. how dare she try and tell you that you shouldn't spend this special day together as a family.  you are completely right to have the kids with you and i don't think they'd want to be anywhere but with you.  i was amazed last week by how open you were with your gorgeous boy about ofb and how easy he was with it all.  truly special.

mmmmmm...............whilst I can understand teachers not wanting pupils to miss lessons - would they really miss much in one day??

Speaking from experience, I know of several parents who have taken their kids out of school during term time to go on holiday for a week or two - these seem to be approved.  So surely an important day like this warrents one day - especially as they obviously miss their brother very much.

I remember getting some dirty looks when I took my kids out of school for Adam's funeral.  We went for a meal afterwards and it took me a while to realise why people were staring at us!  It was mid-week so obviously they thought they were skiving!
