We Were Gonna Have a Baby, But We Had an Angel Instead
~ Pat Schwiebert (Author),

Reviews -

I was frustrated trying to find a book for my four year old that would help him understand what had happened -- and then I found this book. It is gentle and simple and so utterly perfect, whether your baby died in utero or shortly after birth. It takes such a difficult topic and puts it in words (and beautiful illustrations) that children can understand. I hope you never need this book, but if you do, you'll be so glad to have it.

This book is simply written and perfect for the preschool child to understand the death of a baby before birth. The illustrations are magnificant and capture the preciousness of life. I thought this book was beautiful

Thanks for that susan. I'm going to look into that book as as my middle daughter (who was just 11mths when ben was born) grows older she asks more questions and i think is struggling to understand as much as my eldest who actually remembers ben being here. So thanks susan x

I can vouch its a great book - Kieran was only 2 when Adam was born so I ordered this after someone recommended it to me.  Unfortunately we didnt use it much as I found it upsetting to read it aloud, but its definately well worth getting.

There was another one - with birds.....the baby chick died after being born but I just cant recall what it was called.  I didnt get this book as it wasnt really helpful with my children never having met Adam.

I have a book called 'where's Jess gone?' which is esp for older siblings of a SIDS baby which I found very useful for my two x
