As most of you may know I've found it really hard to get pregnant for the past 5 years. No doctors will listen to me as they say I've got plenty Of time to have a baby etc! Well I went on Monday and made an appointment with a new doctor and was ready to tell her what for if she made excuses to not take me serious! I was so supprised when she took me serious and listened as I told her my story from the start. She looked through my notes and said I have PCOS- something that should have been diagnosed years ago! She then referred me to see a specialist on the 2nd November! I am really happy that they are starting to listen even if it has took me 5 years! I am now starting another chapter in my life and going to have to learn to live with PCOS but hopefully it will include having a baby at last!

Do any of you ladies have PCOS? If so I would really appreciate some information on it thanks!

I have PCOS and was diagnosed in 2000 so have known for quite some time.
There are quite a few things they can do to help. Weightloss and excersize can help a lot with PCOS sufferers. They can give you clomid or metformin to start with which helps ovulation, they'll do bloodtests to see if you've ovulated on the medication.

There are other options as well but I have only ever taken Clomid.

I'm stunned your doctor has diagnosed you like this without doing any tests. Normally there are hormone level tests and ultrasounds and that's just for starters.

I also can't understand why your doctors haven't referred you for tests following your loss. After a loss at 18 weeks there should always be some basic tests. Add to that your other miscarriages you would automatically be referred for tests. Why have you not made a complaint to your PCT for your doctor's refusal to refer you for tests in accordance with the nationally accepted guidelines?

There are also guidance issued to doctors for when to refer someone for infertility consultation. I think in most cases that is two years. When they haven't referred you and your partner why haven't you made a complaint?

Sorry to ask so many questions but as someone who has been 'through' the system I don't really understand why your doctors refuse to act and why you haven't made a complaint in respect of this.
