  all.

i was just wondering if anyone else who has had a loss through SIDS constantly checks on there other kids??

i think i am stressing myself out by doing this!!

every single night i put my 2 youngest children to bed (2 & 1 yrs) and find myself checking on them every 10, 15 mins!!
i walk upstairs and on my way up i get the most disturbing feelings that something is wrong. by the time i get outside the room door i am shaking, feeling physically sick and scared to go in! i always turn on the light like its a disco light...on off on off on off before i even look at them... (the kids will move about with the light going on and off). when i see they are ok and breathing im fine, give them a kiss and go back downstairs. but 10 mins later im back and repeating this cycle!!.
this is really starting to wear me down as im not actually getting any sleep until very early in the morning (4/5am).

i understand it is normal to be checking on them but im just not sure every 10 mins and these horrible feelings are healthy. as i am expecting again i cant help but wonder if all these stressful feelings are harming my unborn child.

is there anyone else doing this??

thats the reason i check...to make sure they are not dead!!

and everytime i think about checking im convincing myself they are........ this cant be normal!!

ive even found myself getting halfway downstairs after making sure they are ok and stopping about turning and going back again.

i cant send my hubby to check for me as i just hear him in my mind shouting for an ambulance, like he did when emmie-lee died.
so i have to check myself.

im very paraniod at night time because of this. and its getting worse with each bedtime

maybe i should talk to a doctor before my nerves shatter and i end up like old miss shakey bones who lives up the road lol

that is so very true... the words you just used "will this child die" will stay with us forever......

reading that back just made perfect sence to me!!

arhhhhh how strange is that, with just reading those words i feel like a weight got lifted of my shoulders.
very odd!

thanks alot hun.... i think you just made me see there must be a million and more parents who get those same horrible thoughts when there child is sleeping.

and what i get every night is a part of life after losing a child be it by SIDS or other.

wow what great choice of words, your a gem.
i suddenly feel confident about putting them to bed........

lets see what tonight brings.

love love love to ya

I know I haven't lost a baby to sids but I think it's very common for parents who have other children to constantly check on their other children.

Don't worry you are normal hun

i didnt lose Jake to sids but i still went through all that with josh, every 10-15 mins poking him to make sure he was alive, i felt terrible after but then 15 mins later would feel the need to do it again.

Sadly we all know just how cruel life can be so it makes us more warey.

Im sure over time you should be able to cut down the amount you check on them, but you arent doing them any harm so if it makes you feel better then by all means continue
