I havent posted any of my poems on this site before and I havent written any for a while, but I scribbled this down this morning and thought I'd share.
A large group of women and children together
There were smiles and presents and so much chat and laughter
I wonder what they thought when they saw us that way
A bunch of school pals perhaps who met up for the day?
Did they see the beautiful angels upon our cake?
That must have taken so many hours to make
The pretty butterfly candles and carefully made cards
Were presents that were given straight from the heart
Who would’ve thought that something so magic
Could’ve come out of something so sadly tragic
We’ve all lost our baby – we all share a pain
You wouldn’t have thought we’d have anything to gain
But we’ve a friendship, a bond
We just simply “know”
And I don’t know about you
But its left me with a glow.
A tiny flame that flickers inside
That tells me I don’t have anything to hide
I can hold my head high, stand tall and be proud
Of our angel children who live beyond the clouds.
