Hi Ladies,
My youngest son Jack, 18 months, hasn't started walking. Well this week decided to try and encourage him along by getting him standing and me holding his hands when i've noticed that his left leg from knee downwards is all stiff and his foot is bent out to the side, its like his dragging it.. tried to straighten it up so it was in line with the right foot but i could tell by the look on his poor little face that it was uncomfortable. He's able to pull himself up at the sofa but doesn't seem to move along. I've rang the Heath visitor and told them, they told me to take him to the gp which am doing on next week. Has anyone experienced this before, just need some advice, am really scared,

sorry I don't know what this could be. Maybe he just doesn't want to walk yet?

I hope all is ok when you take him to gp.

Sorry no experience of this but just wanted to say try not to worry as the doc will sort it for him and he will get there in his own time.

Let us know how you go on at the docs.

do you know if he had unsymetrical lines on the back of his legs at his 16 week check up? I know its a long way back to remember.

But josh did and they told me he may be slow to start walking because of it

It didnt seem to affect him too badly, he is just over 18 months and has been up and about for a while now but sometimes one of his legs just seems to give way on him and he ends up in a heap on the floor.

Hopefully your GP should be able to shed some light on it but its not that usual for them not to be walking by 18 months, especially boys. Is he good at crawling and getting about other ways? If so he just may not have the incentive to walk. Im sure it will come to him in time

Keep us posted

my late daughter had a similar problem, the doctor referred her to a physiotherapist and she was to get special boots or insoles for her shoes. took a while tho. Just was a problem with her foot but the physio helped. Good luck and i hope he will be walking soon,  kis

Hi Ladies,
Just a quick update about poor little Jacks leg. Well had him at the dr's last week and they doesnt seem to be much of a concern, it is out of shape but as they say theres a delay in his development there gonna review him every 4 weeks, which has put my mind at rest slightly. So hopefully he'll be up and runnin before we no it. Take care and i'll keep you posted with the little man progress. Marie XXXX
